PaletteArt™ as a Medium

PaletteArt™ is a trademarked contemporary art medium developed by Lisa J. Levasseur. The medium uses 100% acrylic recylced paint, transformed through a proprietary approach into richly textured, three-dimensional works.

Rather than applying paint in a conventional way, PaletteArt™ incorporates accumulated layers generated through the artist's studio practice. Movement, gesture, and material history remain visible within the surface, resulting in works that exist between painting and sculpture.

PaletteArt™ is a distinct medium defined by its material origin and the artist's method of working. Each piece is unique, carrying a physical record of process and transformation while maintaining the integrity of the medium itself.

Origins

While working on a large painting project for her parents, Lisa Levasseur found herself surrounded by layer upon layer of dried acrylic paint that had accumulated over time. Throwing it away didn't feel right. She wasn't comfortable disposing of it in the garbage, and she couldn't ignore the feeling that so much colour, texture, and material still held value. Rather than discard it, she began collecting the dried acrylic paint and experimenting with ways to transform it into something new. What started as a simple desire to reduce waste gradually evolved into a distinctive artistic process, where reclaimed acrylic paint became the primary medium. Today, PaletteArt™ reflects that journey, demonstrating how creativity, sustainability, and innovation can come together to give discarded materials a remarkable second life.

PaletteArt™ reflects a commitment to material responsibility within contemporary art practice. Created using 100% acrylic recycled paint, the medium engages with broader conversations around paint waste, reuse, and environmental awareness.
